as possible to the medicine.
GELSEMIUM No. 1 Remedy for flu
Especially if there is shivering up and down the spine, (but
see also Eupatorium perfoliatum ). Characterised by paralysis.
Known as the "glass coffin" because there is complete
physical prostration coupled with mental alertness.
Complaints may come on after bad news. Patient trembles, has
aching muscles and heaviness esp. of the head and eyes - even
the eyelids droop. Diarrhoea from anticipation, fright, grief.
Better: profuse urination. Worse: 10am; oppresive weather.
HEPAR SULPH No. 1 remedy for painful, pus-filled
wounds.
Characterised by hyper-sensitivity to everything: pain; touch;
cold; noise;exertion. One of the chilliest known remedies.
Emotionally violent and intense. Pains stitching and splinter-like
(cf Arg Nit). Better: Heat; damp; lying in warm bed.
HYPERICUM No. 1 Remedy for injury to nerves.
Reputed prophylactic properties against tetanus. Useful first
aid treatment for lacerated wounds from sharp instruments
or any injury to nerve-rich areas (e.g. slamming door on fingers
or falling on the coccyx) Pains are extreme and shoot along
the nerves.
IGNATIA No 1 Remedy for emotional shock.
Useful for treating symptoms which follow acute loss, grief
or disappointed love. Patient may not be able to accept what
has happened and reacts with a sense of disbelief. Can be
used to treat fainting and hysteria. Other signs may include
hiccoughs or involuntary sighing, yawning. Worse: tobacco;
fresh air. Better: warmth.
IPECAC No. 1 Remedy for constant violent
nausea, not relieved by vomiting.
Sudden bright red haemmorhages (nosebleeds; piles; periods).
Spasmodic respiratory complaints. Dry cough with choking/gagging,
difficulty expectorating.Thirstless. Constant salivation and
clean tongue. Better:open air. Worse:over-eating.
LEDUM No 1 Remedy for puncture wounds.
Also indicated for black eyes.Like Hypericum reputed to have
anti-tetanus properties. Use to treat deep wounds (e.g. those
caused by nails) and bites from both animals and insects,
where area is swollen, blue and cold but feels worse for heat
and better cold applications.Pains are sticking, tearing and
throbbing. May reduce local reaction to insect bites and stings.
